Wild West Legacy is a game that was previously known as Wild West Dynasty before they changed the name in March 2026.

The game had a rough start in its gaming life, so much so that the developers changed the story in the game, you used to start the game in a cave.

You play as John Ryder, he is part of a convoy that gets attacked, he wakes in a snow storm and you walk to a campfire in a devastated town dubbed ‘Ghost Town’ and he finds a woman named Owl, he later finds the bodies of those he was travelling with and discovered that his brother is missing, he later finds a town called Taxation and finds out more about the local area.

He later on finds a mine and locals who were affected by his family company’s mismanagement of the area, you have to solve a crisis at the mine, and you can take sides or choose a more peaceful solution.

He is also looking for his brother who disappeared after the convoy attack, you find clues to where he went and by questioning locals, one tough clue was finding a bag of gunpowder in an area that was circled on a map.

He finds a town called Hope and a Ranch and everything builds up to a showdown over what happened to the convoy.

Then here is where the story gets weird, the story doesn’t seem to be complete, there is no showdown, the main quests end with no fanfare whatsoever and you just end up riding around gathering resources and building towns.

Over the course of the game’s development, some quests were cut out of the game though the infrastructure is still there, some NPCs are standing around as if they would have been used for quests.

There are parts to like about this game, it is fun to build up Taxation and Ghost Town though it can be tedious work of chopping down and cutting up tree, gathering sticks and gathering stones.

You can cook food from recipes, you can hunt for food, grow food, recruit settlers who have skills like farming and mining.

You go out and find animal zones and mining zones, they aren’t on the map, so you got to do some exploring.

You can build furniture for your home and the homes of your settlers; these amenities make them happy.

You find ruins of buildings that scream ‘rebuild me’ but sadly, you cannot touch them, there is even a place called ‘family farm’ but you cannot touch it, this is likely a leftover from previous game ideas.

Here’s another weird part of the game, while you got a fiancée named Ada who you are waiting on to come over, you can chat up settlers and end up marrying one though once you do that, nothing happens when it comes to dialogue.

Beautiful scenery.

PC Gamers, whatever you do, do not touch the ~ key, it will lock up the game you can cycle the quest options, and you see players move around but you can’t move a thing.

Overall, while this game looks cool and has some great features, the game just feels incomplete and that is what hurts it.

There are suggestions that future updates are on the cards, we certainly hope so.

This game is a classic case of early access gone wrong, they started off with a game that was very rough and they panicked when reviews were poor and the constant changes and continuous bug issues have diminished the game.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Tiggy.
